Writing Coaching Services

Writing coaching allows individual professionals or collaborative teams to meet with one of our instructors and receive feedback on a sample of their writing. For this writing sample, we recommend using a document in progress, whether a sparse outline or an excerpt of a full draft.

Before a writing coaching session, our instructors review the document for its organization, content, coherence, clarity, conciseness, and readability. We note areas for improvement and things done well.

During the 45- to 60-minute session, our instructors share their recommendations. We ask questions to clarify the document’s audience and purpose. We invite your professionals to question the recommended techniques and discuss their experience planning, writing, and editing the document. Finally, we work with your professionals to determine next steps for the document.

Many professionals often note feeling new motivation to not only continue working on the one document but also practice the recommended techniques on other projects.

Writing coaching sessions can be combined with a writing course, for a more comprehensive writing training curriculum with greater attention on the individual needs of your professionals.

Professionals can participate in one coaching session or a series of sessions. Whereas one session helps professionals identify particular techniques to practice, a series of sessions helps professionals measure their progress in adopting new writing habits.

We deliver individual writing coaching sessions virtually, or we can schedule sets of three to five sessions for coaching in person.
