In this first post, we introduce our readers to our new blog post series in the hopes that you’ll consider subscribing to our monthly newsletter. At Writing System Institute (WSI), we are launching 2026 with a new name and a new blog post series.
We’re calling this series “The WSI Stance” because we plan to use this forum to share our “stance” on writing topics that our clients seek advice on.
(For example, is that preposition at the end of the previous sentence an error? We frequently get this question in our courses, and just like we answer then, our stance is “that’s a fake rule!” Then we explain some of the history and recommend what to do about it.)
For our readers, this blog post series builds on what we provide our clients in courses and coaching sessions: evidence-based recommendations to improve an element of your writing process or writing style.
With this series, we can share more recommendations than we have time for in our courses. And if you want a colleague or customer to hear one of our recommendations, sharing a blog post makes that even easier.

The blog post series also lets us share recommendations on topics we have not yet covered in previous courses. For example, our work on editing AI-generated content shows that AI tools produce some types of grammar errors more often than others. You can look for an upcoming blog post on how to copyedit AI-generated content so you can find these grammar errors quickly.
Our clients’ questions shape our priorities for what we learn and share. So if you want to see a blog post on a certain topic, please tell us! Visit our Contact Us page to submit questions or suggestions.
